RESIDENTIAL ENTRY INSTALL

Entry designed by Positively Home
You've painted your wall red.

Now what?

This is usually where my clients give up on decorating their space because they thought that just painting would do the trick.

BEFORE: Entry Area before Positively Home Design Team
I'm all for paint colours of every hue under the rainbow - especially red, but knowing how to incorporate these colors into your space is where the trouble begins.

Relax. Our design team is here to help.

Once all the clutter in the space was removed, it became an easy task for us to layout some specific guidelines to help liven up the area and utilize the accent wall to its full advantage.

After designing this space, I compiled an easy guide for you to create your own fabulous entry area with a fun red accent wall:

Guidelines on Using A Red Accent Wall
Guide 1. Add Lighting

A great way to add lighting without having to change your existing light fixture is by changing the bulb!

Firstly, white bulbs tend to brighten a space a lot better than a yellow bulb, so that's always a great factor to consider. Secondly, check to make sure that you are using the maximum wattage - *please be careful not to go over the maximum wattage that is recommended for the specific lighting fixture.

Guide 2. Try White Sheers

Ohhh...how we love a good white sheer panel!

White sheer panels help bring in natural light while filtering the natural light with a pure white finish. This is one of the best things to do in a space with a red accent wall because you'll bring lighter energy into the area.

If you have a solid side panel, use a patterned white sheer to play up the space a little.

But, if you have patterned solid panels (like in the picture above) it's always a good idea to use plain, non-patterned sheer panels.

Guide 3. Use Cherry Woods

In Feng Shui, the color red signifies earth. Therefore using earth tones such as cherry woods is a good way to decorate with your red accent wall in mind.

Use the cherry woods in picture frames, credenzas and seating to create a balanced and grounded feeling in your space.

Guide 4. Play with Teal

Even though the red wall itself is a pop of color, that's no reason you shouldn't add in another pop of color to get your space going!

In this case I used teal because all the other walls in the space were like a mint-green shade. So if you do decide to utilize the teal, make sure it blends perfectly with all the other colors of the space before making the big purchase :)
