Design Rescue: Small Space for the Holidays

This week a close client asked me a question that so many of us have on our minds; "How do spruce up my space for the holidays without spending a fortune?"

And the answer is so simple...play up your color scheme with simple fixes like artwork with fun recipes, throw pillows or silver/gold accessories!

Let's start with the bar area. This is always a quick fix because it's the one area in your living room that doesn't need that much attention. One of my favorite things to rejuvenate the bar area is blending eclectic artwork with gold/silver toned accessories. My favorite place to shop for these are H&M Home and of course Shop Positively Home for the artwork. If you're on a really tight budget, the accessories don't necessarily have to be store bought, you can utilize dishware that you already have sitting in the kitchen cupboards.

Next, dressing up the sofa and love-seat. The trick to getting this area in order is to pick a holiday color scheme that you like, and stick with it. Dressing up your couch and accent chairs is a piece of cake after that! Adding various pillow sizes add depth to your sofa and laying a throw on the arm of your love-seat just adds the extra umph that your living room needs.
Lastly, small & cute Holiday ornaments. I know some people may be partial to this idea, and that's ok...it's not a must. But I love the trend of the small holiday ornaments used as more than Xmas tree decor.

Happy decorating!
